Walsingham 2021 – Mass of Reparation

Three Guardians, Petrit, Martin and Peter, set out early Saturday morning on 23 October for Walsingham to the Pro Life Pilgrimage of Reparation and Prayer for the Sanctity of Life.  With them they took the Relic Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Protectress of the Unborn, one title so proclaimed for her by St Pope John Paul II in 1999.

The weather was fair if cold and the journey was uneventful and fast. Upon arrival, the Image was installed in the basilica next to the Blessed Sacrament which is to the left of the high altar. A priest kindly blessed the image as it was taken from the travelling case, and before long the Mass began.

At the end of the Mass Bishop Mark Davies blessed an image of Our Lady of Walsingham, which will be travelling across the country in the near future!

Veneration of the Guadalupe Relic Image then commenced, with many pilgrims coming to Our Lady with their love and prayers. This continued until Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

Afterwards there was a brief occasion for more veneration before another Mass started. The Image was then taken back to the van for the return to Bedford whilst most of the pilgrims started the walk of the Holy Mile.

We thank Canon Philip Moger and all the priests and staff of Walsingham for their welcome and helpful hospitality. It was good too to see again the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, as always devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
