Bedford Procession of the Saints

The life-size statues are ready to leave the Church to be carried in procession

Guardians Richard and Andrew joined the Italian Community recently for the Annual Procession of the Saints through the streets of Bedford. The procession leaves The Catholic Church of Saint Francesca Cabrini that is less than a quarter of a mile from the Shrine and has a strong devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe through its Home Shrine Group, which has 15 regular members led by their Guardian Roseanna.

It was a lovely day and large crowds turned out to see the Procession start and follow the mile distance from start to finish.

At the Shrine, we were joined by the First Communicants who led the Procession on the last part of the Journey. Guardian Andrew was called to help carry the statue of Saint Anthony for part of its journey. He said,

“It was a privilege: hard but enjoyable work fulfilling the duty laid on us by Pope Francis to carry out the mission of Public evangelisation.”

Guardian Richard, who is an Italian speaker, led the Rosary for those following the statue of St.Anthony.
