The Feast Day Mass of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated on Saturday, 12th December at 7.30 pm in The Church of the Holy Child and St Joseph, Bedford, the home of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The principal celebrant will be Canon Seamus Keenan. This is an occasion when we welcome the Home Shrine families to come along and meet the Guardians and renew promises in English, Italian and Polish. Priests, families and friends from all over England attend, especially those who had the privilege of hosting the Miraculous Relic Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in their parishes.
The Feast Day commemorates the first appearance of the Miraculous Image on 12 December 1531 and it is the only apparition where Our Lady left a Miraculous Image of herself unmade by human hands. The Feast Day is widely celebrated in the Americas as Our Lady of Guadalupe is their Patroness, as she is, too, for unborn children and the New Evangelisation.
After the Mass, which includes the hymn to Our Lady of Guadalupe, there will be refreshments in the Guild Room. Incidentally, attendance at this Mass fulfils your Sunday Mass obligation.
