Donna, the Shrine Coordinator, is currently in America caring for a sick relative so Mary Frost, on behalf of the Guardians, organised a day of reflection for members of the Legion of Mary – Our Lady of Guadalupe Curia (Northampton South).
On Saturday 22nd August 2015, Feast of the Queenship of Mary, the members and their President, Mrs J.M. Weekes, spent the day with us following the Shrine day-pilgrimage programme. The group were welcomed by Canon Seamus Keenan, Rector of the Shrine.
Members of the Curia, who came from Luton, Aylesbury and Northampton areas, joined the Parish for Rosary and Mass before starting their day’s activities and their summer meeting. After Adoration and Benediction the group spent some time in silent prayer before the Miraculous Relic Image. During their lunch break the group had the opportunity to purchase devotional items as a remembrance of their day. The afternoon programme began with Mary Frost leading the group and other visitors, who come for Father Roy Karakkattu’s reflection, in the Rosary Chaplet of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Father Roy Karakkattu, Chaplin to the Guardians, then addressed the Curia through a spiritual reflection, which centred on the Gifts of Mary, our Mother.
The day-pilgrimage concluded with Father Roy leading the Magnificat and prayers for the souls of Servant of God Frank Duff (founder of the Legion of Mary), Servant of God Alphonsus Lambe (Legion Envoy to South America) and the Venerable Edel Quinn (Legion Envoy to East Africa).
Mrs J. M. Weekes, President of Our Lady of Guadalupe Curia (Northampton South) thanked Father Roy and especially Mary for providing the group with a wonderful opportunity for such a spiritually rewarding day.
